The Learning and Skills Council exists to make England better skilled and more competitive. Our goal is to improve the skills of young people and adults to ensure we have a workforce of world-class standard – and we do this through our three core initiatives: Train to Gain, Apprenticeships and the Skills Pledge.
Train to Gain
Providing help for businesses of all sizes and sectors, Train to Gain offers independent skills advice at no cost to your organisation. A business skills adviser will look at your business needs and help you find the right solution for success – a tailored plan including training to deliver the skills that can boost your business, as well as access to available funding.
Apprenticeship
Apprenticeships can improve your organisation’s productivity and profitability by turning ambitious ‘doers’ into committed, qualified, loyal staff who have learned their skills within the business. As such they are a highly effective, low cost way to get the right people with the right skills adding to the success of your business.
Skills Pledge
The Skills Pledge is a voluntary public commitment; a promise to drive your business forward by training your employees. By making the Skills Pledge and supporting the advancement of your staff, you’ll be giving your organisation a competitive advantage within your industry.
Skills for London Ambassadors
The Skills for London Ambassador Network brings together a small group from London business and public sector leaders to raise the profile of skills and training as a key part of business survival for the capital’s employers.
